Very tasty food, but quite pricey.

Good quick bite for breakfast. I liked how their home fries are crispy and tasty. Cash only so keep that in mind. Menu is sorta limited, but it does the job. I'd check them out again if I was in the area.

Absolutely love this fixture in Manchester. Recent changes to their signature cheeseburger (different kind of bun) only made it better than I remember. Staff is friendly and fast. Just wish I had a bigger stomach so I could have gotten the milkshake, too!

It was the first time I have been there in quite some time. The service was great but the food was just so-so. I also wasn't happy to see the cooks not wearing any gloves!

My first time visiting and the experience was awesome! I obviously had to get their famous cheeseburger, and it did not disappoint. And then of course had to buy ice cream to take home! I love the nostalgia and the uniforms! My mom grew up in this area and I had heard so much about it and will absolutely be returning when I'm in the area!

Winged burger is outstanding, takes you back to 1950s

Not only am I so excited this place still exists every time I come back to Connecticut, I’m ecstatic to see that it hasn’t changed ONE BIT. This place is truly no frills but you can’t beat that fried cheese on their cheeseburgers, the syrup in the soda, and the delightful hot fudge. Few things about this place: 1.) menu is on the walls; 2.) it is CASH ONLY; 3.) it’s not super for large groups but it’s extremely ideal for solo dining. Love you Shady Glen, never change.

This place is the best. Burgers in the older style. Excellent service, very quick. I have been coming here for 33 years. I always come here when I am in town.

One of my favorite place since young , now everytime I visit I can't go back home without having a least a cheeseburger with melted crispy cheese from "ShadyGlen" it isn't easy to get out on this cold weather but for this comfort Burger is a must !☺

Had a good breakfast. Good service. Always enjoy going back. And took a half gallon reasonably priced ice cream home for the family.😋

My sister and I stopped here for lunch and it was the cutest place! It was a good "meet in the middle" spot for us. You can't beat the prices and the vintage atmosphere was awesome! They even mix their own sodas. I would recommend stopping in if you're looking for a quick, easy, diner meal. They are cash only, but there is an ATM inside.

My husband an I ate at Shady Glen today. The waitress was abrupt and rude. My husband's clams were burned black, and included pieces of burned bacon. The waitress offered to replace the order. However, she left the plate with the burned clams on the table. He had to pick through burned clams to get at his fries. The replacement clams were slightly lighter in color than the burned ones, and they were limp and soggy. We will not return to Shady Glen.

Come here for the cheeseburger and/or the Cheese Frita.It's a unique and tasty experience, they also make their own ice cream, I had the pumpkin pie chocolate chip with chocolate fudge and whip cream.

This place hasn't changed in over 30 years - and that's a Good thing! It's exactly as I remembered it! Their cheeseburgers are still the best!

A great old school 50s diner. Great minestrone soup, cheese sandwiches, cheese burger platter with fries, and fried cheese. Can't forget the tasty ice cream. Well worth the drive!

A meal worth having for a low price and good services.

I came here with some folks from work for lunch and was amazed at how quick the service was! We were seated immediately and got our orders taken, and then the food very fast. The burgers were cooked perfectly and the cheese was delicious as always. The prices are pretty good and you can get items on their own or part of a platter. The parking was easy and it was easy to see from the street.

Easter special ice cream is the best. Try out strawberry malt shake as well

Love, love, love this place! Unbelievable food and customer service for a million years! Been going here since I was carried in my mother's arms. Never a bad experience or a bad meal. You can even get that great burger cheese as an appetizer. Yum. Highly recommended if your visiting Connecticut. A delicious local gem. If your a true CT person you'll have visited here at least once. A++++Service was slow & needs improvement.

Very dissatisfied. Drove all the way up here to get no service other than to get told to move . 1 star will never come back 👎👎👎

Good food and amazing milkshakes are the reason to go to Shady Glen. The place could use a refresh Atmosphere but my only real complaint is that they don’t take credit cards. I never carry cash so we don’t go that much. We would if they started to take credit cards though.

What a terrific restaurant with great food and great people. My first visit was in 1949 ( so my parents told me). Even with restrictions, staff members are giving attention to detail. We just had a great take-out lunch, and 71 years later, still enjoying Shady Glen!

Was visiting CT from California and went here for lunch.If you have never had fried cheese slices, get them just to say you did. Food is nothing special, but their ice cream is some of the best. I had a Pumpkin milkshake (awesome) and tried my friend's (aka had most of) Apple Pie milkshake (amazing).Also, randomly enough, I really dig the aisles where he servers walk. Go there and see what i mean.

Decent. Really rich ice scream that can fill a stomache quickly. Not bad of food. Fast serving. But it looks like their stressed so, I feel bad. 3 stars

As a longtime customer I have to say I'm disappointed with this restaurant. The burgers are no where near the quality that they were in the past. I've gone twice in the past two weeks and the meat they use is full of gristle and of poor quality. Also the coleslaw that was at one time the best around has definitely been changed. It's nothing like the old coleslaw. I don't understand why you would want to mess with a proven product. The cheese is still the best, as is the ice cream. I would recommend those items only. I will say that the waitress we had today was very nice and did an outstanding job.

A place out of the past. Classic old school new england dairy restaurant. The burger was great and comes with a huge piece of fried crunchy cheese. Onion rings were a little lacking though. The ice cream was great!

Service is always decent food is exceptional but I think it's overpriced. Almost 8 bucks for a frozen burger 5 bucks for a small portion of fries come on
